A nice representation of an ancient counterfeit (fouree). Copper or bronze appears clearly to right of fides where the silver layer has worn off.

An interesting coin celebrating the Alimenta, a welfare system first established by Nerva, by which rich Romans would contribute to food and shelter services for children. This included care for orphans. Click here to link to one of my "coin of the month" articles on this coin.

This is a copy by Becker. I do not plan to own a gold aureus within the foreseeable future.
